BE FILM, le festival du film underground – du 28 avril au 2 mai 2009

BE FILM a annoncé les courts métrages en compétition de cette année : 75 courts métrages provenant de 27 pays qui seront projetés à New York du 28 avril au 2 mai 2009.

Cela fait maintenant six ans que le Festival a décidé de se consacrer entièrement au court métrage. Avec environ 500 candidatures venues du monde entier, les films en compétition se distinguent selon leur genre et spécificités. S’ils sont sélectionnés, ils ont de grandes chances de pouvoir percer dans le milieu très fermé du cinéma. Le Festival est une première entrée en matière qui permet aussi de visualiser les grandes tendances créatives.

Fort de ses succès précédents, BE FILM est devenu LE rendez-vous du genre de la côte-est des Etats-Unis et un fabuleux tremplin pour les courts métrages représentés.

New York, NY (Jan 22, 2010) Be Film The Underground Film Festival announced it will open April 27 2010 at the new auditorium of NYIT on 62nd St and Broadway.

Be Film The Underground Film Festival was founded in March of 2004 by Laurence Asseraf, in the art gallery (A Taste of Art) she used to own on Duane Street in Tribeca, New York City.

Now in its seventh year, BEFILM THE UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL focuses only on short films with over 500 submissions from around the world. The competition selection includes live action narrative, documentary, experimental animation, 3D stereoscopic and specs. Established and first time filmmakers screen side by side in an environment designed to support creativity.

Be Film runs during 5 consecutive days each year starting usually at the end of April. This year the dates will be: April 27 – May 1, 2010. The competition selection is distinguished by genre: Live action narrative, animation, documentary, experimental, musical videos, specs, and since 2009 Stereoscopic 3D. The festival provides a cultural and entertaining forum while recognizing and honoring independent emerging filmmakers through a panel of judges from the entertainment industry who reviews the films and gives the awards.

Films premiering at Be Film are consistently nominated for Oscars in both the live action, and animation categories, and go on to festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin etc. Constantly innovating and pushing the boundaries, in 2009 the festival has introduced a 3D stereoscopic category. BEFILM is the first established film festival in the US to recognize and include the 3D stereoscopic medium with its own category.

BE FILM - THE UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL announced its lineup of short films in competition. 75 films from 27 countries will screen in New York City April 28 - May 2, 2009. Now in its sixth year, BEFILM THE UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL - previously known as Tribeca Underground - focuses only on short films with over 500 submissions from around the world.

The competition selection includes live action narrative, documentary, experimental animation, 3D stereoscopic and specs. Established and first time filmmakers screen side by side in an environment designed to support creativity.
